Teresa - Those cuts can vary in carat weight depending on the depth of the stone as well as its table dimensions. Your best option would be to find a stone you like, then have it professionally appraised to determine the actual carat weight as well as overall quality for insurance and valuation purposes. It would also be best to buy the mounting after you have the stone so you can more easily compare how different settings and styles look with the actual gem. Best wishes!

Well, without an appraisal, it would be hard to tell the age and actual origin of your jewelry. However, mystic topaz has been around a while, it just wasn't as commonly used until recently, so it is quite possible your set is the age it appears.

Hi, I am not sure if you can help me with this, but I bought a set of mystic topaz at auction. They are of 1/2" to 3/4" in size, necklace, earrings and ring. The confusing part is that they are on cards that appear aged and the language is German "silber 835/000" is on the packaging and 835 and sterling is stamped in the settings. The package also says blue rhineseibel. All appearances indicate ordinarily 20 to 30 years of aging. The mystery to me is that the above discussion indicates a newer timeframe. Thanks for any information or enlightenment.
