Kehau - Check out Palladium Engagement Ring for information on palladium as an alternative and unique precious metal to use.
-- Contributed by: MayntzMy recent research into jewellery, particularly of engagement rings, has peaked my interest and curiosity of 950 palladium alloy. My understanding, thus far, has lead me to conclude that this metal has many of the desired qualities of platinum, with the desired cost of white gold. Aside from the monetry difference palladium, unlike white gold, does not contain nickel, nor does it require continual rhodium plating. What is your position on palladium?
-- Contributed by: KehauKam -- You're absolutely right, higher karat values of gold are generally weaker than lower karat values, depending on what they're alloyed with. Some low karats are alloyed with similarly weak metals, however, to keep prices low and that can make them more vulnerable than higher karat values that may have stronger metals in the alloy.
-- Contributed by: MayntzRegarding your Metal category, why do you say that low karat golds are weak? Yes they are weaker than platinum but high karat golds are weaker than low karat gold. Don't you agree?
