Remember, too, that the ring's worth is much more than just its monetary value - there is rich sentiment with such an old heirloom. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: MayntzHi Jana,
How nice to have such a great family heirloom! No one will be able to give you an appraisal without looking at the ring and diamond. The value of the diamond is based on much more than the carat weight. Please make sure you find a certified gemologist/appraiser. Best of luck to you, Ann
-- Contributed by: Ann M.I have an engagement ring that has been in the family for many years, the diamond for much longer. The diamond was cut sometime before 1870 and was put into a couple of different items. It was put into the ring setting it's in now in the 30's. We are wanting to get an appraisal for insurance on the diamond and the ring setting both. What would roughly an appraisal for this ring be? It's between 1/3 to 1/3 carat diamond in a natural setting with two small, small diamonds on either side.
Just looking for a rough idea. The diamond could very well be well before 1870, that's the absolute latest date we know, it could be a considerable earlier date.
Thanks, Jana
