Hisham - There are several things you can do to create a surprise proposal with a lovely ring. First, you can consider a "temporary" ring that is just a solitaire, and then you and your special lady can go together to pick out a more elaborate setting to reset that diamond. You could also take her shopping and just note what types of jewelry she prefers -- does she wear yellow or white gold? Does she like classic styles or more exotic designs? These can give you good clues about what to choose for her. You can also consider proposing without an engagement ring so she will have the opportunity to choose her own and that special moment you share won't focus on a piece of jewelry. Best wishes!

Hey Mrs. Mayntz The reason why I am writing you is because of a pickle I might be facing. I am planning to propose soon to my girlfriend and I would like to 'pop-up' the question; I wanna make it a surprise. The problem, or problems actually, is the numerous details I need to cover before scoring a nice ring. Cut, rock size/weight, shape, etc. How am I to do that keeping in mind that your site clearly suggested that the bride-to-be should make her own choice?? Please share whatever ideas you have.
