Marriage Proposal Houston Rockets

What is the most romantic marriage proposal? Houston Rockets fans might say that the guy who proposed to his girlfriend on center court might have had a great idea. By the end of the evening they may have changed their minds, however.

If you were going to ask a girl to marry you would you do it at a basketball game between the first and second quarter? Would you risk humiliation on national television? Apparently some fans would.

At a Houston Rockets game, the night before Valentine's Day, a young woman was led, blindfolded to center court. She expected to be looking for an autographed basket ball but instead, when her blindfold was removed, she was staring down at her boyfriend. He was on bended knee at midcourt. The scene was set for a romantic proposal.

He was seemingly, and understandably, very nervous. The young man looked deeply into the eyes of his beloved and spoke the words every woman longs to hear. He told her, his voice trembling with emotion, how much the past ten months had meant to him. He spoke of her qualities and the reasons he loved her. He related how much fun she was to be with. The fans listened to everything breathlessly. Even the mascot was intensely interested in the conversation.

The young lady listened with her hands covering her mouth. She seemed to be overcome with emotion.

Finally the suitor came to the end of his speech. The fans held their breath as he asked the question they have all been waiting to hear, "Will you marry me?"

He watches her face intently, holding a ring box up towards her. She stands for a long moment taking deep breaths and looking as if she is about to rush headlong into his arms. Finally, she bends close to him and speaks softly. As she continues to talk with him the fans get the idea that she isn’t saying "yes" over and over again.

All at once she turns and walks quickly off the court. As she walks by the mascot he raises his arms in unbelief. In an act of compassion the mascot leads the rejected beau off the court patting his back. A sympathetic observer hands the man a beer as he enters the tunnel. The looks on the faces of the crowd are priceless.

Totally disbelief seems to wash over the entire stadium at this unexpected turn of events. Shots of the players show some of them trying not to laugh. Could a there be a worse ending to such a romantic Valentine's Day proposal? Houston Rockets fans would probably say that there could not.

The next several days the internet was buzzing with comments about the proposal. Should she have said yes to save him from public humiliation? Would it have been better for her to have called him the next day to tell him she had changed her mind?

Videos of the proposal were being posted on blog after blog and there were hundreds of comments. Most people felt that she had been wrong to handle it the way she did.

As more people watched the video the rumors surfaced that it was a hoax. Some people felt that the responses of the man and woman were not realistic. Later, information surfaced that an unidentified spokesperson for the Houston Rockets supposedly admitted that it was a hoax. .
