Bailey Banks and Biddle

From LoveToKnow EngagementRings

Discerning shoppers interested in a high quality engagement ring often turn to Bailey Banks and Biddle, an exclusive jeweler that has been providing exceptional diamond pieces to consumers for more than 170 years.

About Bailey Banks and Biddle

Bailey Banks and Biddle is owned by the Zales Corporation and offers the same dedicated service and quality selection. As a slightly more upscale jeweler, however, the stores offer a wider range of designers and exclusive lines, perfect for individuals interested in distinctive jewelry. With more than 110 locations in 31 states, interested customers will have no problem finding a boutique for a personal consultation about their jewelry preferences.

Types of Jewelry Available

As a full service jeweler, many different types of pieces are available both online and as part of in-store selections, including:

  • Right hand rings made to showcase a woman’s individuality and style.
  • Bracelets in bangle, charm, and tennis designs.
  • Necklaces including pendants, three-stone configurations, hearts, crosses, and other fashion choices.
  • Brooches in multiple figural and abstract designs.
  • Earrings from simple diamond studs to drops, hoops, and other stylish designs, often coordinating with other jewelry pieces.
  • Stackable fashion rings with colored enamels and coordinating diamond bands to create eye-catching, custom arrangements.
  • Eternity bands and other suitable anniversary rings including five stone bands and half-eternity designs.

All of Bailey Banks and Biddle’s jewelry is of the highest quality, using only certified diamonds and superior metals, including platinum, 18k gold, white gold, and sterling silver. In fact, many metals are alloyed with silver in order to be more hypoallergenic to sensitive skin.

Men’s Jewelry

A wide range of men’s jewelry is also available, including a selection of diamond rings, wedding rings, necklaces, and cuff links, including a set of whimsical father-of-the-bride cuff links. Men’s jewelry is designed to be sturdier and more rugged without sacrificing distinction and quality.

Gemstone Jewelry

While diamonds are by far the most popular gem featured in this jeweler’s collection, a number of other exquisite gemstones are used in different rings, earrings, and necklaces. Some alternative stones include both blue and pink sapphires, emeralds, peridot, aquamarine, rubies, amethyst, garnet, tanzanite, pink tourmaline, and pearls. Even a selection of exotic colored quartz is available in several pieces.

Bailey Banks and Biddle Engagement Rings

The store’s bridal and engagement ring collection is exemplary, with dozens of different ring styles to suit any bride-to-be’s tastes. Before purchasing an engagement ring, however, couples should note that many of the designs are semi-mounts – complete ring designs with accent stones but without the center stone. The assumption is that the couple will provide a loose diamond for the central focus of the ring.

Styles

There is a wide range of engagement ring designs available, from three stone rings and classic solitaires to elaborately styled art deco and vintage designs with swirls, filigree, and other distinctive accents. Cuts and shapes vary, including princess, emerald, marquise, oval, pear, and Asscher designs. Various settings are also available, from traditional prongs to bezel and more unusual choices such as floral clusters, pave settings, and flush rings. For couples interested in unique pieces, a small selection of fancy yellow diamond rings is also available.

Designers

One of Bailey Banks and Biddle’s strengths is its selection of designer jewelry, including such notable collections as Tacori, Scott Kay, Hidalgo, and renowned wedding dress designer Vera Wang’s first jewelry collection. Patrons interested only in designer pieces can easily search the store’s website for appropriate pieces to suit their preferences.

Cost

The high quality and selective nature of the store’s jewelry leads to high cost, with rings ranging from $400-50,000. Most engagement rings fall in the $1,000-5,000 price range, however, and couples can create wish lists of their favorite pieces. Unlike other jewelers, no layaway options are available, though the store does accept several payment methods, including gift cards. The website offers a categorized clearance section for couples on a budget.

Customer Service

Because any piece of jewelry is an investment, Bailey Banks and Biddle wants to be sure that their customers choose just the right item. To help educate patrons, they offer shopping and buying guides for both diamonds and precious metals, including glossary and care sections. Individuals can schedule private consultations with experienced professionals, and each store offers a private diamond viewing room with specially designed lighting to show jewelry at its best.

Bailey Banks and Biddle is well known for exquisite jewelry and designer selections, something many couples wish to find when searching for the perfect engagement ring. With sophistication and distinction, this jeweler is prepared to meet any couple’s needs and expectations about such a significant purchase.

Comments

Marsha - We are not an agent of any jewelry store or retailer; I'd suggest going to the nearest Bailey Banks and Biddle store when you are able and have them examine the ring. An independent jeweler may also be able to tell you the meanings of some of the markings, though they may be specific to that chain. Best wishes!

I have a Diamond solitaire engagement ring left to me by my aunt. She purchased the ring at your store. Inside the ring the inscriptions are: TW (encased in an oval); VIP (encased in diamond pattern) 14K; the number 7487599 and on the opposite side of the inner ring the number 2.01. Is there anyway to find out if you have a certificate on the ring? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Frederick - Individual jewelry stores often keep records of purchases for several years, but they may not have it from eight years ago (3-5 years is typically the limit) unless regular inspections and upkeep have been done on the ring, which should keep the records valid. I'd suggest contacting them first, and if the store where the ring was purchased is unable to help, contact the corporate headquarters with your request. Another option is to find out the cost of the ring in 2000, which the store or headquarters may be able to provide. Even though that may not be the exact account information you're looking for, it can be helpful.
